When is your spring break? Does it coincide with the spring breaks of the Los Angeles Unified School District and/or the other major school districts in Southern California? If so, you're screwed.

We (unfortunately) went to Disneyland on 12/31. What a disaster - and we even got to use my MIL's handicapped pass (which you get at Disneyland's Customer Service office) to get onto rides in about 1/3 the time in line. Still just trying to walk around in the park (and pushing two strollers) was difficult because it was so crowded. We waited like 30 minutes in line just to buy an entry ticket.

We're planning on going again during the October 4th week during Huntsville City Schools fall break. Disneyland should be a lot less crowded because Southern California schools don't have a fall break.

Regardless of when you go, it is in your best interests to get there really early and map out your must do rides and hit those first.

I second this wholeheartedly! We went to Disneyland on 12/26/08 because we thought nobody would be there over Christmas. Boy, were we wrong!!! I have never, ever seen Disneyland as packed as it was that day. We bought two day passes so we could do Disney one day and CA Adventure the next day. After being in the park for about 8 hours and only able to visit 3 or 4 attractions - not even the popular ones, mind you - we went to the customer service place to get a refund. Disneyland doesn't give refunds, which actually worked out better for us.

We wanted a refund for the second day only, since we had obviously not used it yet. They gave us two day passes to come back another time, but they physically escorted us out of the park and handed us the tickets once we were outside of the park. That was fine with us. We plan to go back another time - pull our son out of school for a couple of days - when the weather is warm (when we went it was freezing!) and enjoy our time while everyone is in school.

I've never been to Lego Land, so I don't know how crowded it will be over Spring Break, but I can assure you, Disneyland will be crowded.

Disney will fill up and not let anyone else in during Christmas and Thanksgiving. I used to sell tickets for them. Also California schools are year round so it's hard to say when they would be less crowded. I can't say I have ever seen a time of the year that they weren't packed. If someone wants to see everything in Disney; it's going to take at least 2 full days there.

Another thing, while they do check your bags when you enter the park, it isn't too hard to sneak in your own food, especially in a diaper bag. Also, bring your own water bottle so you don't get ripped off buying Disneyland drinks. The problem is, it's easier to find WMD in Iraq than it is to find a water fountain at Disneyland.

I have not been to Disneyland in 20 years and I have never been to Legoland. With that said, it sounds like you and your family will have a good time. I've seen photos taken in Legoland and they make ME want to go just to see the model cities made of Legos like this:

Here is an interesting graph on Disneyland attendance:

Thanks so much to everyone that has answered my thread. Based on the above link, I'm rethinking when to go to CA. We have a week off on the first week of November and I'm guessing that it may be much less crowded than during a holiday week. NJ has teacher's convention that week.

Has anyone gone during that time? What is the weather like at the beginnning of November?

Thanks again!

We used to go to Disney every year in November because my husband's birthday is November 5th. We used to take the kids out of school on a Tuesday/Wednesday and stay at a hotel across the street within walking distance. It's kind of chilly in November though, so definitely layer up.
