Default Time to buy California real estate?????

Last night on the news it was reported that California population will double by 2020! Is now the best time to buy real estate? Or is it the time to move to beat the rush in?

It wasn't clear where all increase will take place but I suspect it will be SURPRISE, Los Angeles basin and the San Francisco Bay area.

I doubt it. I saw some estimates of doubling but they were made in the early 1990s projecting towards 2020 and 2040.

Still, is it a good time to buy?

I think it is getting closer, maybe a year or two.

Well it only increased by a bit less than 8% between 2000 and 2007, so it's going to be a heck of a big migratory move or there is going to be some darn serious procreating going on.

From my local state Senators website;

"We have just learned today that California’s population is due to pass the 40 million mark by 2012, the 50 million mark by 2032, and to close in on 60 million by 2050."

The estimate of todays population is 38 million more or less.

Irregardless of pop increase, the RE market hasn't bottomed out yet.

Doubling by 2020 is very likely given that just about every Mexican woman I see has 5 kids and more on the way. In about 10 years, their kids will be doing same.

I say a great time to buy is now. Focus on those areas with the highest rated public school districts.

A lot of people are told on Sundays that they should be fruitful and multiply and that all forms of contraception are immoral.

You've been registered here almost a year so you should know that Charles is a SoCal native, spent the first 40 some years of his life here, only recently moved out of state, and still has family here. I'd wager that he has a better grasp on what's going on here than you do.
