We've been through Paso Robles a few times. I really like it. Its close to the central coast, it has the Midstate Fair each year, which attracts big name entertainment. Its turning into a mini "wine country".
Search some of the forums, but I think its a nice town.

It's close to two very nice lakes in Lake Nacimiento and Lake San Antonio.

I went to college in San Luis Obispo. Only the best place ever. Paso is about 45 minutes north of there. It is hot, and not close to the beach. But, very affordable. You will get good bang for your buck. If you are thinking of moving to the area, you may want to check out Atascadero- not quite as hot and closer to the edge of the mountain for going to the beach/nicer areas of the county. As stated, Paso is a great area for wine. There are fantastic wineries there. Feel free to pm with specific questions.

it's another central coast tourist city. they have things for little kids and wineries for adults. nothing for teens. all the college, middle school and high school stuff is in San Luis Obispo. paso robles, atascadero, san miguel, santa margarita, and all those other small communties are basically retirement communities and towns for ppl from LA to get away from the city.

paso does have a water park, indoor batting cages, rollerskating rink, movie theater, skate park, and the fair.

If Paso Robles is further from the beach than Atascadero, it isnt more than a mile or two. Atascadero---Morro Bay
Paso Robles---Cayucos

the movie theater and the fair are the only places i hang at.

the batting cages are for sport people, skate park is for skaters, and the skating rink and water park is really for kids around 12 years old. high schoolers usually do outdoor stuff or hang in san luis obispo on the weekends. and yeah, the beach is not far. 20 minutes to cayucos or morro bay. 30 minutes to pismo beach and avila beach.

Sorry, you couldn't PAY me enough money to live in Paso. I lived in Atascadero for 10 years and maybe it's a bit of left over High School rivalry (even though I graduated from continuation a year early) but Paso just isn't for me.

Especially since they kicked out the car show After they did that, Paso will get none of my business.
