Moving to CA...please HELP!
Hello. My fiance and I are getting married in December and plannig on moving to california by the end of this year. We are planning on moving to the Sacramento area for his schooling. I am going to be RN by then so location really isn't too much of a problem for me.
We have looked at many towns including citrus heights, elk grove, and so many more around Sacramento but I am having a hard time finding a small city with a low crime rate (but reasonably good priced) and good schools.
If anyone has any information on any cities around this area or has any good ideas please help me out. I'd really appreciate it!

You might want to re-post this in the Sacramento subforum.

Where will he be going to school? Have you looked into the nursing requirements in Calif? Make sure you have all that under your belt before you arrive, I am sure you have thought about that..
How far outside of the city are you willing to live or do you want a short commute? Carmichael in nice, so are parts of east Sac and Davis..There are many other super towns near Sac and the cost of living is lower than many places in California..

Where is your husband going to attend school and what kind of money are you looking to spend on rent and/or purchase for a home? I am an RN and it is true that you can get a job more easily than other fields but the commute to some of the major hospitals can be a real drag.

My fiance is planning on going to UTI which is an auto body school. Its located in the city of sacramento. I am aware that rent is going to be much more than I am used to and am expecting at least 1000-1500. Does that sound reasonable?

For how many bedrooms, and would that be a house or apartment? Sacramento is more affordable than other parts of CA, but still might give you sticker shock... around here (Bay Area) $1000 wouldn't get you much, although it looks like Sac has plenty of decent places around that price. Have you checked craigslist for pricing? sacramento apts/housing for rent classifieds - craigslist
P.S. Would you like me to move this thread to the Sacramento forum?

I havn't checked craiglist yet....i've done a little of research though. I'm only looking for a small one or two bedroom apartment until I get settled and make sure its the place for me...then I would be looking for something better. My fiance's training is only 9 months so we are figuring by the time a year lease would be up we would be in a better position to buy a home maybe.
We have been looking at Folsom per someones reccomendation. Does anybody know anything postivie or negative about it?
