Jonathan Winters lives around my area and he is as nice a man as you would want to meet. If you show any sign of recognizing him he will say hello and chat.
I was pulled of the 101 north of Santa Barbara working on my carburetor when a car pulled up, lady got out and asked directions to Solvang. I told miss Cindy Crawford how to get there and she thanked me and left, having made my day a little like a ZZtop video.

Forgot to mention. When we lived up north Slim Pickens was a neighbor of mine, what a wonderful person he was.

Now Daryl Strawberry? He lived nearby as well. What a idiot. PG&E runs small concrete streams of water thru many properties. You have to pay to use any of it, but if you need a great amount of water it supplies more than a well ever will. The waterway has a trail along it for service and the law allows the use of this trail for the public to hike on.

Well Daryl in his bathrobe thinks this is his private trail and accosts a couple of kids on their way to school, words were shared. He meets the kids on the other end as they exit the trail and threatens them with a gun. Later in court he admits to carrying the gun in his bathrobe but denies brandishing it, even thou the boys described the same gun in detail.

I remember shortly after the OJ trial was over, my sister and I were at the LA County Fair and saw him there, signing autographs of all things.

Honestly, I've lived 30 miles from LA my whole life and haven't seen more than a few minor actors. Then again, I don't really go to the places I think most of them would frequent, so that may be why. There are certainly quite a large number of movie stars living amongst us here in SoCal, and if you hang out where they hang out, you'll no doubt meet a few. Otherwise, it's quite possible for someone to live here a great many years and not meet a single one.

As for the school question, I did go to school with a couple aspiring actors and think I've seen one of them in a few different mags over the years, but that's it. My son's teacher's son is an actor and will be appearing on House soon, so that's cool.

I've often wondered the same thing about Nashville, but my guess it it's probably the same there as it is here. If you go to the right places then you'll meet the stars. Otherwise, you just live in a regular place with regular people.

I've had beers with Slim at the Charlie(St. Charles Saloon, Columbia) a few times( a LONG time ago), he even autographed my old hat. A character for sure.
I have a hunch you may be mixing your ball players though. Vida Blue lives in Twain Harte, on the ditch, tried to block access, NOT Strawberry. Anyway, Vida and I shared beers a few times as well, and discussed the "KEEP OUT" signs. He put them up to cover his azz, thats all, and it was his lawyers idea.
Let's see, the origional question,,,, LOL, living up here I've seen 100s of actors, from Lassie, to Mike Fox, from old No. 8, to,,,,, well, Slim Pickins.

Default Lots of Stars in Santa Barbara County

I have personally only met Jon Bon Jovi and the late Chris Ledeaux. It was a hot summer day when I pulled into Los Alamos to get gas and they were shooting a music video. They needed more extras and minutes later I was in the background of a country fair scene with them playing "Bang the Drum". Jon Bon Jovi didn't seem very nice but in his defense it was over 100 degrees outside and he stayed in the air-conditioned trailer most of the time. Chris on the other-hand was a very nice man who I chatted with for half an hour or so. Not being much of a country western music fan, I didn't know who he was until after we met and he got up on stage to sing. I was sad to see he passed away a few months ago.

I have several friends who have seen stars around as well. Here in the Santa Ynez Valley friends have seen Bo Derek, Dolly Pardon, Sandra Oh, Lance Armstrong, Cheryl Crowe, and Michael Jackson. In Santa Barbara other friends have sat next to John Travolta and Rob Lowe at dinner and seen Peter Noon, Oprah Winfrey, Kenny Loggins, Carol Burnett, Michael Richards (Kramer), and Cindy Crawford running around town. One good friend of mine lives on John Cleeses ranch as well. I know there are several more living in SB County but can't remember all their names right now. All of my friends have had positive interactions with them. The people who live in this area are very good about respecting the space and privacy of the local stars. They really are just normal people with abnormal amounts of public exposure who have the mix of personalities like everyone else. Can you imagine how annoying it would be on a daily basis to deal with everyone wanting autographs and photos? Better them than me!

Our daughter is a waitress in San Diego and has waited on a few celebrities. The one incident that she related to us that I'll always remember, is her being called over to a table that was not hers. The elderly(to her) Mexican man wanted to know her nationality and complimented her on her looks. She had to ask another waitress to find out he was Julio Inglasius. Still didn't register with her. Oh well.

I live in Louisiana. I thought I'd post anyway. I met Polly Shore he was a ass. Sham because I used to be a fan. He was just rude when I said hi and waved. I have seen more music stars than movie stars though. I work at a casino and that's how. I have seen Willie Nelson, nice guy. Clint Black, Hootie and the Blowfish, A few other country artist. Im not a huge country fan though. I met a few dancers like for plays and braodway. Oh I met Tia Texada. I didn't know who she was though until a co-worker told me.. We have a lot of stars coming to our area now though for filming. recently we had Kevin Costner, Ashton Kutcher, Queen Latifa, Tom and Katie. Jessica Simpson and that lady that was in the movie with Jack Nicholson..I forget, she was in the Dollar Tree! That's cool. LOL.
