Default How is Santa Rosa?

Can someone give me a rundown of Santa Rosa - good & bad neighborhoods? I did a search but can't find anything. I'm basically looking for something within 50-60 miles of SF that's safe and quiet. I'd like to get a cheap mobile somewhere while I look for something better. Jobs, schools not an issue.

Are you commuting to SF?
Santa Rosa is a nice town, just too crowded, a ton of traffic. If you are commuting outside of it you will go nuts.

Not a daily commute. Maybe once a week.

It's an awful commute. Depend's on your personality if you can tolerate it or not. If you can avoid the rush hours it is still bad, but at least the traffic moves.

Hey, I'm from NYC. I laugh at traffic.

A great medium sized city....

I've lived in Santa Rosa ('03 to '07). I have also lived in Long Beach, San Diego North County, Washington DC (Alexandria VA to be exact), and San Juan Puerto Rico. Traffic in Santa Rosa is better than in any of these other cities/places. Those who say there are too many people or that traffic is bad are comparing Santa Rosa to more country/rural areas. I'm not saying that these are not valid concerns, but rather that a person's background (context) is important. Where I see a medium sized town surrounded by vast open areas, another might see a congested mess.

Yeah I didn't think it was that bad, moving to the area soon and spent 3 months there before. I'm used to Chicago, Miami and Atlanta traffic as ones I have dealt with a # of times... it is quite easy in comparison.
Now going in and out of SF...that is another story.
