Many people in San Fransisco are wacko too, just the other side of the same coin. In both cases its the irrational focus on relatively mirror social issues while ignoring major issues in the country that makes them wacko.
I'm not above name calling.

It seems like a shoo-in for Jerry Brown IMO. In dealing with CA's dysfunctional Legislature it helps to have someone who already has experience doing so.

how exactly is a leftist whacko governor going to be able to set a leftist whacko legislature straight?

The radical religious right does not have a "strangle hold" on Texas.
But if you haven't noticed Texas is doing much better than California. They can actually figure out how to balance a budget, have affordable housing, keep their economy going, etc. Texas does a lot more right than they do wrong. The opposite is true of California.
The liberal wing nuts in California have bankrupt the state by focusing on social issues while ignoring economic issues. This is precisely the sort of thing that religious conservatives do, its just a different set of social issues. Two different sides of the same coin.

Texas has a smaller economy than California by far & the only reason people move there is because it is so cheap [no unions\ employee protections\ low wages\ poor medical coverage]. How many people vacation in Texas? The Texas board of education requires that "creationism" is also taught in public schools. The baptist\ evangelicals are huge in Texas & produce some of the worst politicians American has had to endure.
Anybody who thinks Texass is a better place to live doesn't deserve to live in California

happ, we lived in Texas for 13 years and our kids are still there, conservative yes, religious right, not what you may think. Not all conservatives are religious and not all religious people are conservative. That is one of the biggest falicies floating around..

You obviously have never lived in Texas:
1-employee protection, low wages, poor health coverage. Both my husband and I worked for companies in Texas, he worked for 3 and I one: our salaries were certainly far from low and we both started out with hourly positions, we had as good, if not better benefits including excellant medical coverage and retirement plans. Actually one of his jobs was not hourly, it was management. Unfortunately one of the companies my husband worked for was bought out by Direct tV and the other moved their headquarters to Topeka Kansas..
No tourism, No, not like Ca, but if you do not think Texas has tourism you need to think again, Houston, San Antonio, Galveston all are huge tourist locations and Dallas is among some of the top cities for conventions..?? I don't alway agree with you on issues but usually think you know what you are talking about, this time you are so off base I can't believe you posted this...they also do have unions I may add.

happ, judging from some older posts that I have looked at that you've made, you appear to be someone in your 40s who has a very set radical leftist viewpoint. Your profile says that you are a social worker (I'm guessing you might actually be an LA County DPSS worker, judging by your immense support of illegal immigrants), that is assuming that what you post here is true.
All in all, I think many will agree that you are what can be considered a troll because you don't make substantive arguments, you make hateful accusations. Texas would be the choice of middle class Americans because they can build a good in the state more easily than in California.
If you take a look at the political history of California, you will see that life in the State seemed to get less desirable as Democrats controlled more of the State.

You are topic ONE. What is so boring in your life that you intrude on every thread in California only to tell us how "Leftist" we are. You have an ax to grind & use California to vent your frustration. You would be very unhappy here & I'm sure you will never move here so what is the point of interfering with California-related topics? How many Californians post on the "Dallas Texas" threads to tell you how backward Texans are?
Why waste our time on the obvious.
