Definitely the most vocal group, but the thing is I am an Engineer who is surrounded by church going, republican, conservatives right here in the BayArea everyday.

Most here are socially liberal/fiscal conservatives I would say.

Quite true. I grew up in DC, so the term 'good government' has always struck me as oxymoronic.

Sounds as if, you and many others out there, still wish they had that old relationship with California.

To debate on a forum without providing personal knowledge would be quite restricting, would it not?

Shall we all just sit here and say "whatever you decide"?

Default California Hate Groups

Sweetheart--It's because they are jealous, partially. I'm from NY and have experienced the same thing in much of the country because although much of NY is farmland like it used to be where I grew up all most people ever hear about is the crime and glamour of NYC so there's a lot of fear, insecurity and resentment. A lot of people think Cal is nothing but LA and SF with a couple of Redwood Trees and Sea Lions thrown in. They are not aware that there a lots of conservatives and beautiful rural areas like Mendocino County and north. I relate to your angst. Most Americans are just plain ignorant when it comes to geography. I unfortunately live in the Land of Entrapment: dried up, disease and nuclear waste ridden New Mexico at this time [no offense intended] and often when locals ask me where I'm from and I say "NY" they walk away. So now I say "Vermont" or "all over". Remember, dear, their just jealous; next time they ask where you're from just say "Beverly Hills" and that will kill them with envy.
