Default spinal surgery

Had spinal surgery - laminectomy - 2 weeks ago. Surgery was successful, no pain, no problems.

I am a former breast cancer patient.

Yesterday I discovered that the calcified synovial cyst removed from the spinal column WAS NOT SENT to PATHOLOGY for examination!

I am in a panic! What is the protocol for sending tissues removed during surgery to pathology? What can I do at this point in time?

Not protocal from what I've experienced. Unless it's suspected to be cancerous you have to ask to have it sent to pathology. I had a splenectomy many years ago and my doctor had to ask if I wanted it sent to pathology... of course I said yes!

Some insurances charge more for getting it checked out.
