Can you get arrested for posession of Marijuana anywhere in California (San Jose: how much, home)

I'm not from or ever been in California. So yeah, I wouldn't know. but Is there a city anywhere in California you can get arrested for simple posession or Marijuana, or does every city just give tickets for it?

Possession up to an ounce holds a max penalty of 100$ fine. Over an ounce will take you downtown unless you are a medical user.

The priority with the police is to ignore marijuana for personal use [under an ounce]. That doesn't mean they won't take away your weed if they want to unless you have a medical card.

Yup.

But truly, it is low priority in most cities, unless you are in a small community you won't really be bothered. Worst that can happen in places like SF, LA, Oakland, San Jose, is that they would fine you 100$ and take away your weed. Also you have to attend a few of those narcotics classes (kinda like AA for weed).

But remember, this is personal use, only up to an ounce can be possessed. If you get caught for selling it, you are screwed. Then again, if you are a medical user, you can possess it and not get a fine and have over an ounce. Basically, they can't do anything to you except tell you to smoke at home if you are smoking at a park or something.

in San Francisco, i've seen a motorcycle cop smoking a joint....
in LA, i've seen it pretty openly on the streets too...we even got those medical mj vending machines now..and one dispensary where you can sit in a room with vaporizers to sample your bud/hash and chill with your friends. i've been pulled over with weed smelling up my car and nothing was even said....now, if you're caught with hash or hash oil (honey oil)..that's a different story. the minimum is a fine (i'm not sure how much, but it's in the thousands)..and possible jail time for a year..for any amount. i don't get why this is either, since hash is still available in dispensaries, unlike hash oil, which was just banned by the state.

I would suspect in the SoCal cities with really tough law enforcement, such as Thousand Oaks, Culver City, Glendale, Palos Verdes, Irvine, and many OC towns, that someone could still get arrested for possession of marijuana.

The cops in my town just take your weed and tell you to leave. Then, they smoke it themselves or sell it. None of my friends have ever actually gotten in trouble for having weed on them.

The police in my town will bust you and send you to the pokey, you wont see anyone smoking it in the open.
