Default FRESNO: Please help me with these areas

I have narrowed my 3-4 year search down to Fresno being my city of choice. I'm going to post some links to some rentals I am seriously looking at. Any help in giving me the lowdown on the locations (gang infested, racial tension, crime etc) would be appreciated. Thanks!
FYI- I'm looking for a mellow kind of area I can call home. I am 32, single white str8 guy who is not into drama and prefers an area that fit me.

Cardinal Creek Apartments in Fresno, CA

Torrey Ridge in Fresno, CA

Redwood Canyon in Fresno, CA

Hunter Place Apartments in Fresno, CA#

Island Lakes Villa Apartment Homes in Fresno, CA#

The Mirage Apartments in Fresno, CA#

Island Lakes Villa is near First and Nees. Nice neighborhood, the complex looks good from the street. You would be only about a mile away from the RiverPark area for shopping/restaurants/nightlife/etc. I believe it was built to eventually be sold as condos so the complex is probably nice.

Mirage is in the NW, near Herndon and Brawley. That is probably OK although it is a ways out on the edge of the city. There are a couple of shopping centers with groceries, etc nearby but you would need to drive for most other activities or needs.

Torrey Ridge is the old Village Green Apts in Sunnyside. I believe that the complex is for sale. If so you might not want to move in without knowing how a new owner/management company might operate.

Hunter Place is in an area that I can't really give you specific guidance about. The area around Ashlan/West can be OK but there are some iffy parts. I'm not sure how Hunter Place falls.

Likewise, I'm not sure about Cardinal Creek. It could go either way.

I'd stay away from Redwood Canyon, that complex has had many names over the years (Beck Place, Hampton Court, etc.) and there is possibly a reason for that. It has had problems over the years and they seem to change the name to start over. But I haven't heard any reason to think that it is better now.

If they would fit your budget, there are some nice complexes along Nees between Blackstone and Palm, that would be addresses in the 300, 400, and 500 blocks of East Nees.

Besides these also look at some of the newer complexes in Clovis around Fowler and Highway 168. Easy commute into Fresno.

Of these, I'd go with Island Lakes Villa as the top choice. Near 41, near River Park, nice area. I'd put the Mirage in second place. The others I'd all put in a distant 3rd place tie.

I've lived at Windscape on Nees and it was a pleasant development in a really great location.
