but thats a product of the diverse nature of the state. california is a huge produce/farm state without the benefits of being an actual farm state like some midwestern states. california has a huge retirement community that is taxed and protected like your average wage earner. california has enormous urban communities without the benefit of even a decent public transit system. etc etc

its like taking iowa, florida, massachutsetts, arizona, and oregon and making it one state. you cant expect it to work well honestly

Right you are and since I'm retired and no longer very good at the multi-tasking it requires to live in five or six states at the same time we're moving back to America where we only have to deal with one state rather than many and a host of foreign countries as well.

yes, you do, same as we have here in AR. Most people do not realize how beautiful AR is or how gorgeous the sunrises and sunsets are in NM> Penn has the mountains and sea as well. I think, although I do love the scenery in Ca, there are many states that have beauty beyond belief. Why do we all love the song "America the Beautiful?"

And I can assure you, when you get there, you will drive down some of those country roads and say to yourself, "this is what America is all about" or we do anyway..

Yes, there are other "magnificent" states as well. Each state has it's own special qualities to be appreciated.

I wonder how many of all these "California is the greatest" posters are actually from Ca? I'm a native and the California of my youth is much better than the Ca of present. IMO

We can hardly wait. I've spent a signficant portion of my 60+ years doing that in other states and I miss it, as does my wife who spent seven years in the AR Ozarks.

Couldn't have said it better myself. We're both natives and share those feelings which is why we're moving to the Missouri Ozarks shortly.

For me? No, not really, although there are many beautiful places in the US that I enjoy.

But for others? Yes, of course. It's a very individual thing.

That is how we feel as well. We will be visiting Tahoe and Chico next week. We are anxious to see the country side, there are things about Ca that make it special, but what it was 30 or years ago and today are so different. Some of it might even be better, but I just can't help but remember the 50s and 60s.

No, most people here clearly realize how beautiful California is. It is the non-Californians, like yourself, who are jealous & resent that we have what you don't! Enjoy the South [if you can
