Philadelphia.... I've heard of that. Isn't that one of those countries in the Balkans someplace, where they talk funny and have lousy weather?

Anyway, who goes onto a state's forum to find out what they think of their home city? Insecure much? Who cares what people think of you?! What do you think of yourself? And why are you concerned with California in the first place? You can't broadbrush either Philly or CA.

I'm a Californian not a Philadelphian or Easterner. However, everyone I've known from Philly complains about the bagels and the quality of Jewish delis in CA.

Philadelphia's corrupt city government doesn't help matters. Other cities like Chicago, NewYork, and Boston have cleaned up themselves up (at least somewhat)and have even seen some population gains in the last 10 or 15 years. Not so with Philadelphia. Fortuately, it sounds like the current mayor is half decent and not blatantly corrupt. But it will take many years to really turn things around.

The only thing I can say about people that *might* be from Philadelphia (Phillies fans) is that they sure do know how to ruin a baseball game.
When it comes to fans of a visiting team, Phillies fans take the cake as the most annoying, by far.

Haha, my mom is from Philly. She moved here back n the 70's and she said it was "something new" back then. Her brother and 3 of her sisters made the move, and they haven't been back to Philly since (except to visit).
I've been to Philly a grand total of 2 times, and I think it's an alright city. Very different from L.A., that's for sure. The first thing that comes to mind when a lot of Californians are obviously cheesesteaks. [shrugs] And I will say that cheesesteaks cannot be duplicated out here... but outside of that though, Philly just isn't on the radar as you guys end up getting lumped in with the terms "east coast" and NYC.

Some valid points but you can almost say the same exact thing for Boston. For what ever reasons the Boston areas provincialism is seen as romantic and posh but the Philadephia regions parocialism is seen as mobbish and slothful.
Having spent alot of time in both areas i would say Bostons perception is a bit overrated and Philadlephias perception a bit undeserved.

That's pretty laughable, but I wouldn't expect anything else from someone in Colorado.
