what do you californians think of philadelphians?
okay this is inspired by the thread about new yorkers in CA... you obviously have some negative opinions about NY'ers and i can't argue with some of them, but how about philadelphians? personally i would think philly people would be more laid back and easier to get along with than NY'ers... i mean from my perception we're not nearly as whiny, stuck-up, or judgemental as NY'ers and we tend to accept new people pretty easily... you know stay on our good side, we got your back... if we got a beef with ya we'll let you know, if we're cool, we watch out for each other... so what do you all think?

Philly is not on the radar in CA. Many people here could not tell you anything about that city.

When I speak with folks out here, and the subject rolls around to my Philly origins, the reaction is indifference.
Philly isn't a high profile city once you get out of the eastern Pa and south Jersey areas.

I think CA people group Philly and NJ together with NYC,partially out of sheer ignorance, and partially because Philly people also complain about Italian and Jewish food in CA.
OTOH, CA people have better opinions of NY AND Philly people than of Boston people.

I think people are aware that Eagles fans are like the east coast equivalent of Raiders fans, only crazier and scarier! Which is saying a lot.

Hahaha, half of Californians probably think Philadelphia was named after a food:
Don't hear too much about Philly out here, its seems to be overshadowed by DC, Boston, and of course New York.

Many prominent financiers in Silicon Valley and Beverly Hills are Wharton undergrad alums....can easily argue Wharton undergrad is world's best training ground for financiers (much like Stanford's engg grad school is for engineers)...but most Wharton alums aren't from Phila region originally; spend maybe 2-3 yrs (only the retards need 4 yrs) in Phila to get their college degree; and certainly depart for Manhattan upon graduation from Wharton anyway...much like any smart Harvard alum flees Bos upon graduation....

Yeah I would say it is pretty much off the radar. People hopefully know it from its history: Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross, Edgar Allen Poe...
I go to Valley Forge a lot for work and love going into Philly, great city, tough people.
