Respect maybe? The poster did not even Cap the first letter. Suppose your first name was Kelly do you want someone calling you keli? Suppose we call Arkansas arka, Arizona ari or Ohio as oio?
There has been other posts asking people to use something other than cali, sounds more like a nick name for Mexicali.

That's quite possibly the most asinine thing I've ever heard.... So my using cal instead of cali adds respect to my not spelling the full name? Who makes that call you? As for typing oio..well no one will know what in the world you're talking about but if you want to sure...i dont see why that would bother me at all. Personally the only time I can even vaguely realize why someone would get offended over NOT using caps is prehaps when you spell god...other than that its being a bit baby..ish

Real people, cities and states are spelled properly. Use a god damn spell checker for once!

The only people using "cali" as a word are people from other states wanting to move here. Immigrants from other states and countries come to CA in search of the gold! Everyone of these immigrants will put you and CA down and tell you how great it is where they came from. I worked with these asses for years, in the early 80's we had a great number of Texans move to CA.

You can create any baby nickname you want, it still sounds childish to us. Hey, what the hell move here and show your ignorance by calling California your homemade pet name. And personally I do spell god and bible with lower caps as they should be, just as santa claus, easter bunny and leprechauns are.

Really now? Hmmm.....last time I checked people use abbreviations all the time and shorten states names in a variety of ways such as NY, FL, NC, and here we call my town "portsmouth"..."p-town", and we call "cincinnati".."cinci". So I have no idea what you're talking about when you act as if you MUST spell out the entire word. Also why would I use a spell check when I am intentionally abbreviating the names? As for "showing my ignorance", you somehow believe that by abbreviating and not capitalizing a states name I am being very disrespectful, while at the same time refusing to show the same respect to billions of christians and then go on to compare their god to the easter bunny? Pot paging kettle...

OMG - may your camels spit nothing but dates from here on. Sorry, but I've seen many "Californians" (on this forum) who have typed "Cali" or "cali" so don't be so quick to point fingers.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm Can't resist this rant, too good to pass up.
As for real people, cities, etc......So you tell someone to use So Ca, No CA, Calif. & CA. instead of cali.? I couldn't find the first two in any legitimate dictionary....so I don't think a "god damn spell checker" will help.

I also don't think cali is this person's home-made pet name...as it was used by other people first.

I guess I'm ignorant too! even though I am a well-respected health-care professional. I call it Cali all the time.....but then I am an old lady of 58 years....and have lived in the Bay Area ALLLLLLLLLLmy life..... CoCoCounty east of the Oakland Hills..........I also use Frisco, Bezerkely, San Josie...etc.

Sorry you don't seem to have any "important" issues in your life to be upset about: like taxes, gas prices, global warming.....I guess you have all the time in the world for worrying about petty things like "cali".

It's JUST A NAME. Get a life .

Post wages

Thanks in advance!
Kereczr, Ca. does need nurses, and yes, esp. with the staffing ratios. Wage depends on which part of the Bay Area you work, with S.F. typically leading the pack.

It also depends if the employer has a bargaining agreement with CNA (Calif. Nurses Assoc.) or not. Many RNs do make it on their own here, if you don't live a wild singles life

Some facilities use a 12-hour shift standard where 3-12s per week are compensated at a FT rate, benefits accrue as full time. 8-hr facilities do the 8 straight, with 1.5x for the next four OT, 2x if you end up working a double!

Gas is exhorbitant, as are housing costs...I would advise trying thru a registry or as travel nurse, that way you could kinda shop around while deciding a good fit.

Default San Francisco RN's entry-level pay $100,255

Yesterday's San Francisco Chronicle carried a story stating that as of January 2008 the entry-level starting RN pay for SF General will be $100,255.

Micki Callahan, employee relations director for the city's department of Human Resources said the city needs the higher starting salary to complete with area Hospitals, such as Kaiser, Stanford and UCSF...

Looks like it is a great time to be a Nurse in the Bay Area.
