Default The coolest place to live in Chico?

Hi all. I'm thinking of moving north to Chico, CA. I have friends there and I've visited once when the weather was scorching hot! I didn't much like the weather, but I currently live near Monterey, CA and it's too overpriced so I need out! So I'd like to know: What is the literally coolest area in Chico to live? I noticed my friends live in the foothills near the Observatory which is a higher elevation and more exposure to the sun with no trees really. But is there a cooler side of town with trees and some kind of shade? Thank you

Older established neighborhoods in the core of the city and areas surrounding Bidwell Park have a contiguous tree canopy that offers a lot of shade. Personally, I rather like the Lindo Creek area. You're not going to find an order of magnitude difference, though. I would focus on finding a house that's insulated at least to Super Good Cents standards rather than hoping to find a microclimate where the summer highs average 1.3 degrees lower than in downtown.

If you didn't mind the commute you could probably live in Forest Ranch or Cohasset and be a bit cooler, but this is still an interior climate where summers will be long, warm and dry. A lot of people actually like the heat and the balmy evenings that hot afternoons produce. Don't move there if you are a person who hates warm weather.

Never been to Chico. But if there is a house across the street from the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.....then that would no doubt be the coolest place to live.
