Default Fresno

Fresno is not as bad as other people claim. Having lived in numerous cities around the country Fresno is pretty much on par with most mid sized cities. Life doesn't change that much, work, pay bills, etc. There are plenty of rentals available at any income level. The surrounding area is mostly small farming towns, not much reason to live there. Madera is ok, if you are planning on working in Fresno then it is best to live in the area. I realize this is kinda vauge so if you have any specific questions I'll try to help. B Lars

The northern part of Fresno (north of Shaw Ave) is a nice area as well as the town of Clovis. The southern part of Fresno is the old part of town and tends to have a crime problem.

the comment above about Clovis seems to be right on the button according to a good friend of mine that has lived there for 20+ years. He claims he would not live anywhere else. His only beef seems to be the rather aggressive speed enforcement from the local LEOs but he is known to have a lead foot and gets little sympathy from us.

If you have to move there, I'd go for Clovis or NE Fresno. Here's hoping you don't have to live there.

Default Fresno's All Right!!!

I enjoy living here - yeah, it has its problems (like LA or SF are so great), but it's a good place to raise your kids - the best parts of Fresno are North, NW and NE Fresno, and Clovis is also a good place to live, right outside of Fresno. Clovis and Central School Districts far outweigh Fresno Unified by a longshot; however, again, NE/NW Fresno schools tend to do better than the SE SW parts of Fresno. It's hotter than Hades in the summer, but the nights are great. Winters are not too bad.

What can you expect from Fresno? Well.....

There is an old story about a man who was walking along a trail into a town, when he saw an old man sitting at the entrance to the town. The traveler asked the old man, "What are the people like here?" The old man said, "What were they like in the last town you were in?" The traveler said, "they were pretty nice people!" To which the old man said, "Well, you'll pretty much find them the same way here too."

A couple of hours later, another man walked into town, when he saw the old man sitting at the entrance to the town. The second traveler asked the old man, "What are the people like here?" The old man said, "What were they like in the last town you were in?" The traveler said, "they were all pretty rotten people!" To which the old man said, "Well, you'll pretty much find them the same way here too."

Fresno is what you make of it.......good luck!
