How come the large state of California is only divided into 2 parts; "Northern and Southern California"?

New Jersey, the tiny state I live in is divided into 3 parts; "Northern, Central, and Southern New Jersey"

Cali should be divided into 3 parts too...

There is a Central CA, it just doesn't really have major cities or get the attention the other parts do.

And the part most people call Northern California, the SF Bay area, really isn't that far north. But it's the northern most large populated region.

California has MANY parts. There is Northern and Southern (which are the biggest and most frequently mentioned). There also is Central California and the Sierras (the Sierras are very different from the suburbs of Northern California, so most refer to the Sierras as a different region).

Also, you can break it down even further. In Southern California, you have Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire, the Antelope Valley, San Diego, the "valley" (San Fernando) and the Mountains. Northern California has a similar amount of divisions.

There is much more than just "Northern and Southern."

California is just one part. We call it "California."

Why is Texas just one part? Well, because that's the way it is.

You should give part of New Jersey to Rhode Island, just to be fair.

Bla, 3 of those "regions" are rolled into one by those of is who actually live here. LA, OC and the IE are known as "Greater L.A." or "L.A. Metro".
