I know, but with the wild ones there is no changing the bird cage! No vet bills, either.

Besides, nothing beats a cat or dog waking you up in the morning for a treat.

Wow, old thread revived! We brought two parrots and a pigeon with a bum leg in when we moved to California. I called ahead of time to see if I needed to provide any papers and was told none were necessary.

I'll have to look into the quaker parrot thing. It's interesting. Especially since I have a conure, and that's what make up most of the wild flocks in California (the first time I heard a flock fly by at the Block in Orange, I couldn't believe it--I'd know those screams anywhere!). They seem to be mostly mitreds, white-eyeds, cherry-heads and some duskys, both here and up north in San Francisco.

Those screams! Oh boy, do I know about those screams ... I have two conures! (But to be fair, my Macaw and Cockatoo can get pretty darn loud as well. )

Well, first off, that parrot has taken over Argentina and eats about 1/3 of their grain crops every year. That would devastate the mid west or CA.

Yes, there is a check point on the 10. We just went through it.

FTR... there is a checkpoint on the 5 coming south from Oregon. When I moved from Seattle, I had my amazon parrot in the passenger's seat of my 2-seat convertible. I came over the border around 5am in October, and the checkpoint was manned. I stopped, the agent came and checked, asked what type of bird it was. I told him it was an amazon, and he said, "okay" and let me through.

I doubt most of the checkpoint workers know one species from the next. If you have a Quaker, and if asked, just tell them it's a Conure. They won't even know the difference.
