What I plan on doing is incorporating in Nevada and establishing an official business/personal address there (the same place), registering my cars in Nevada, and getting a Nevada drivers license.

But I would live in California 99.9% of the time.

The tax savings (10% state income tax plus lots of other liberal B.S.) will be substantial.

I plan on hiring a lawyer to take care of the nuts and bolts, but I was wondering if anybody has experience with this.

Thank you.
I agree with the post that said your state of residency needs to be where you live 51% of the time. We are relocating to Texas for the exact same reasons. If you stay in Cal you would still have to put up with the liberalness. If you did do what you suggest I wouldn't use credit cards or anything in Ca that would show you are spending more that 49% of your time here. we are going to keep our home in Ca and rent it out. Best of luck to you

Even if you list NV as your residence and driver's license, but still spend the bulk of your time in CA, the govt will say you till live in CA, and must pay CA taxes.
How would they know?

The business is incorporated in Nevada. All business takes place through Nevada.

I will have a residence in Nevada, and pay utilities in Nevada. I will be registered to vote in Nevada, will have a Nevada drivers license, and my cars will be registered in Nevada.

We haven't hit the point yet where the liberals in government track all of our movements, so how would they know that I spend most of my time in California?

You might be able to pull it off and argue your time in CA is spent at your vacation home... I'm sure you will have ample opportunity to defend your position.

I do know a few well to do retiree's that live in their motor-homes and have adopted the traveling lifestyle...

One has Nevada plates and the other Oregon... I'm certain they don't spend 51% of their time in ANY state...

"how would they know?"
You might want to do some research on the Pre-Census work being done across the country right now. The government workers walking through our neighborhoods in the month of April are logging the GPS coordinates of everyone's front door into a central database. It won't be difficult to know where you live, or don't, with this info.

It's always amazing to me how those that "hate" California for it's ___________ always seem to either want to cheat to stay here, or just whine about it how bad it is and won't leave.

Move yourself to the Idaho Panhandle. Run your Nevada Business from there. Maybe Texas will secede and you can move there. I seem to recall some folks that claim illegal immigrants move here and suck up services without paying for them. Would you live here and enjoy what CA has to offer and not pay for it?

The things California has to offer do not come courtesy of the government.

The government, in fact, is a hindrance to the good life in California.

Yes, but I will spend most of the time in California while actually running the business through Nevada.

I love California, but it has been hijacked by high-tax liberals, and I'm tired of paying 10% of my income to fund their idiotic welfare schemes.
