It is AN issue, it is not THE issue. Texas, Arizona, Florida and NY also have a large illegal population without nearly the problems financially that California has.

Too many posters try to make illegals the scapegoat for everything, e.g., this thread.

It is an issue, a huge issue and right now the one most see as on top of the pile that needs fixed first.

You have to have your head in the sand to think that mass illegal immigration does not have a negative impact on a state or country. Not all of them are picking fruit and washing cars, cleaning hotel rooms. Their family members that get smuggled in along with them are a huge cost to services. Perhaps when those services are not funded then the Americans depending on them will wake up and get off the couch. Denmark is a great example of immigration draining their pockets and now CA is another great example.

True. Even when both parents ARE working, they're often working for low wages or off the books. How much taxes does someone making $12/hr really pay? Not enough to offset the services they and their children consume. The system works when you have a lot of people making good money (and paying taxes) and only a few needing help. Flip it around and you've got a disaster.

Who's hiring these Illegals? Blame the people hiring them. If we weren't so caught up on cheap labor they'd all be going other places. Most of you grow your own peaches and clean your house great, but you know who doesn't people who own giant hotels and other service industries that rely on their cheap labor. Look at the bigger picture.

I don't recall that ever happening.
My comment was tongue in cheek. Too much of the money in your bank account goes to state taxes. At least it would be too much for me.

Either way, you are going to have to pay. Higher taxes or higher expenses.
Americans, in general have lived a couple of generations of I want it, I want it now and I want it cheap.. We have been living on credit for a long time.
Well, here is the bill. Pay up!
Who did those jobs 40 or 50 years ago?

Things seemed to work just fine back then.

Nah, let's just lock up the KKKers and other Nazis in Gitmo.

Seriously, I'm not joking.

People who got paid more to do it. Maybe owners went to Immigrants for the cheap labor in order to stay in business and/or for greed. Again owners fault.

That being said, the state would be able to lower the amount of taxes we pay because we would have gotten rid of the illegals...which would give us all a little more money to pay a little more for our fruits and cleaning services. You might pay more for services, but you will pay less in taxes. Thats a win-win right?

And those who say illegals are just working on farms taking jobs others wont do...they are not. Look at Los Angeles, they CROWD there and there are no farms in Los Angeles for them to work at. A lot of them are active in the drug markets, don't work and just collect American welfare, pedal things on the black market, etc as they wave their Mexican flag high and proud.

California's decline has been in large part (not in its entirety) because of illegal aliens. We have twice as many per person as the next largest illegal immigrant state, Texas. The average family of 3 in California is also paying for 1 illegal immigrant with their tax money.

Illegal immigrants have ruined California schools forcing outrageous cuts to legal citizens educations, basically turned LA into a 3rd world country, and helped the illegal Central American drug and gang market flourish here in California. They are not beneficial to our state.

And if that means paying $3.00 for a peach at the grocery store and $10 extra for someone to mow my lawn (if I were too lazy to do it myself) then I would gladly do it knowing that there aren't people illegaly in our state being treated like royalty while American citizens work their butts off and pay half their income in taxes for these people.
