I would like to know the town and part of California you live in so that I know why it is that you love that area so much.

Details are great... so bring it on.
I look forward to hearing the reasons.
I may have answered this at sometime in the past 3 years, cant remember.

Ok, I love when I go out to California the beaches (of course) the Mountains, the ability to view sunshine and feel temps above 50 in January when it's below freezing back home and everything is dead and grey. Seeing the flowers and green grass in the heart of winter gives me a boost, makes me feel alive. I usually go to SoCal every winter at least for a week because 5 month winters can make you depressed. I love California and all it's parks, it's people, and the traffic is horrible in certain areas but I'll take it over black ice and cold hard ground anyday. So I guess the weather is my main like among many other things.

I live in San Luis Obispo, on the South-Central Coast.

I love having 75-degree weather in the middle of January, and hiking on beautiful chaparral-covered peaks. I love driving down the 101 to Pismo Beach and seeing the sun set behind the palm trees over the stunning blue Pacific. I love the strong sense of community in my small town, the farmers' market, and the tasty tri-tip barbecues. I love being close to the Santa Ynez and Paso Robles wine country. I love watching the hills turn green after the first rains in October, when the rest of the country is turning gray for winter. I love the diversity, with vibrant Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, and Vietnamese communities. I love the emphasis on being fit and healthy and exercising. I love the wildflower displays in the spring. I love the exotic gardens and plants you can't see anywhere else in the U.S. I love going to the beach, and then 2 hours later being in class at the local college. I love California.

I see they stole that idea. Santa Maria should sue.

What can I say about California? It's the place of my birth (San Diego) and much of my upbringing (Newport Beach). I love the sights, sounds and smells of the Pacific Ocean, seagulls, salt water and sails, deep sea fishing, dory fleets (if they still exist) and even Santa Ana winds.

CA is also the birthplace of my wife (Vallejo) and most of her upbringing (Sacramento). It's where one of her two children were born and her three grandchildren and four of my five children and four of my six grands.

California is unique, vibrant and varied. I spent most of my life there when I wasn't in China, Japan, Korea, Alabama, North Carolina, Virginia, Minnesota, Texas, Georgia, Kentucky and now, Missouri. My wife spent most of her life there when she wasn't in Texas, Massachusetts, Nevada, Bermuda and Arkansas.

Most regrettably, it wasn't somewhere we wished to remain and retire but it's still fun to visit and spend time with family there. We love it here in the Ozarks and are content to spend most of our time "raht cheer!"

I second Jc76. Being from the east, I like that I can go outside and enjoy the weather year round. Back east we could get some brutal winters, but even with the absence of snow it's pretty depressing. I like being in the inland empire best because the coast can get freezing cold to me. Last year I slid (accidentally) down my hill in front of my house after slipping on ice outside my door. The trash people got a laugh but I was heated! Who like skating on black ice? Who likes to be snowed in, can't go to work and not being paid for that time off? Thank goodness for job transfers! I've endured enough cold 6 months a year and some years 2 month summers, I like the variety of things to do and places to go. hey if I want snow I can go to it, not have it come to me in abundance! That's why I love California...

I love California for it's varied climates, towns and cities, cultures, and of course the ocean.

I live in San Diego. I love the whole area. The nice mild weather, the varied climate, the people, the laid back attitude, and the ocean. I love going down to the bay and sitting and watching the boats sail across the water with the Seagulls making noises and flying around. I love the warm sea breeze and the smell of the Pacific. I love taking weekend trips to Big Bear and snowboarding in the winter. I love going to the Mountains and the deserts to go hiking in the fall and winter when it has cooled down. I just love it all!

The down-side? Snow birds!
