It's so funny how you don't realize how wonderful California is and how there is no place like Cali out there until you move out of it and live elsewhere. before I started traveling, I didn't hate Cali, just was sick of it and wanted to move out and live in another state, like NY or Boston. After traveling to NY and the eastcoast, I realized how much I missed Cali and how wonderful it really was. yes, I love NYC, but I feel like it's a great place to visit, however I can't see myself living there. I missed Cali weather, especially after I experianced the cold winters and the hurricanes and all. Also, I always thoguht Cali drivers were horrible, people were rude and it was a dirty place, but after visiting NY and all, I came to realize how much I love Cali and now I don't think any of that. I love the people and aside air pollution (which you get used to), I think Cali is a really clean state...yes every country and state has it's bad areas so all the Cali haters should seriously shut up and stop pointing out how ghetto it is cause honestly, it's not.

The beaches, from San Diego to Crecent City, this is one beautiful stretch of land. My favorite is Big Sur which I now am able to live close to.

The mountains, The High Sierra, John Muir Trail, Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Mammoth Mountain, Bishop Canyon, Tahoe, etc...

The Redwoods, I especialy enjoy the Northern CA coastal Redwoods.

I love the the multicultural nature of the state with a number of international cities. I work with people form all over the country and world. It helps keep life interesting.

The multicultural food and options are excellent. All the fresh produce year round is also awesome.

Proximity to family is important. We live in Monterey County which is Central Cal and have relatives in both SoCal and NorCal.

I like the innovative spirit. People seem willing to think outside the box in business more here, more willing to take chances and try something new.

I also enjoying having top notch Universities and Medical Centers like Stanford close by.

I like that I can experience prolonged Spring and Fall. And that I there are wild poppies still growing in our area along with maple leaves falling.

I love that I can go to Yosemite and enjoy snow for a weekend. Then come home and go to the beach in shorts and flip flops. This type of climatic and geographic variety is unsurpassed.

No place -- or person -- is what they were in the past ... it's called: change ... some people deal with it ... some don't ... some find happiness and satisfaction in spite of it ... others don't ...

There's nothing quite like the vibe of Cal-types. It's like a different way of looking at the world, a juxtaposition of conservative and crazy. I love it. The exquisite natural scenery serves as the backdrop for the California drama. I'm looking forward to jumping in!

I agree. I am just so ready to get home to Ca. It was home to me after moving there in the 90's from Louisiana.

Like you; I was sick of it and wanted to move back somewhere in the south to be closer to family. So we transferred to Nashville, TN. Everything from horrible drivers, rude people and a very dirty City was worse here in Nashville than it was where we lived in Ca. Sure there were a few places that were clean and kept up. But the majority was run down. I thought crime was bad in Ca until I moved here. It took us 6 mo's to realize we made a huge mistake.

It taken us 4 years to finally be able to transfer back home. And we're so excited that we can't sleep. I miss everything about Ca. I miss all the farmers markets there. The one here is so expensive. I miss the real flea markets. Here they charge you to get in and there might be 10 or 15 vendors with junk. I miss walking the beach and shopping at all the little off the wall shops. I miss the fresh vegetables and cheaper groceries. We pay 7.75% just on Groceries plus they are more expensive in Nashville than Ca. I just miss everything that Ca has to offer that Nashville can't even come close to.

I'm counting down the days until we're finally home and can begin living life again.
