If you want more info you'll have to PM me. All I will say here is that Texas is one of those places you probably have to be born and raised in to appreciate.

Well ... it's been years since I lived in Texas and, I'll be the first to admit that there's a lot of things wrong with California but ... for me, it's not all of the usual things people talk about ... weather, cost of living, housing, recreation, etc.
Texas is a right to work state which, to me at least, means the right for companies to totally screw their workers. There's stuff that happens in Texas that would never happen in California, at least in my experience.
In my profession, for example, Texas companies maintain databases where they can blacklist employees for any reason at all. If a manager doesn't like you for any arbitrary reason and puts a negative report in that database ... you're out of a job, period. Good luck finding a job somewhere else because these companies actually share this database where not only do they shut you out of the marketplace all together but .... they also conspire keep wages low.
It's probably illegal but they get away with it because Texas is an "at will" state where you can be fired without cause. And, quite frankly, the people in Texas put up with it. If this happened in California, the unions that represent my profession would have already filed multiple lawsuits, etc. to put a stop to it.
But in Texas if you even mention the word "union" ... people go ballistic. I'll be the first to admit that there's a lot of problems with unions but, when working conditions are that bad and people pressure you not to even talk about changing it then ...
It's like people are brainwashed into taking these low wages and being slave workers for these companies. I just don't understand it.
That's just not an environment where I'd want to live and work. Yeah ... California costs more and Texas is a cheaper but, these kinds of employment practices are one of the fundamental reasons why Texas is so cheap, IMO.

The house we had in Texas was 6200 sq. ft and we were so fortunate to sell it in a month's time. I really thought it would sit on the market for a long time because in all honesty, nobody really needs a house that big. plus it had a ballroom in it and not everybody is a competetive dancer like me and needs a ballroom.
We were so lucky because when we sold our Palm Desert home to move to Texas, we sold high. We got that giant house in Texas and were able to sell it for more than we paid for it and when we got back to CA we got in at the right time and were able to buy a house for a much lower price than we would have paid in a good market. We are in a 3500 sq. ft. house now and it's plenty big for the three of us and our three parrots. In fact, it's less cleaning, so it's all good!
So ... hurry up and sell your Texas house and get here before the market goes back up!!!

Yes, We put 2 of our 3 properties up for sale in Texas and when they sell then we will sell our home. We need every penny to get back in to California!! We are planning on moving to a very expensive area and on top of that we want on the lake!!!$$$$
I'm glad everything worked out for you and you sold your home quickly. Wish us luck!!!
P.S.... We have 2 small parrots ourselves.

Well I love the Redwoods ! I was born in CA. lived all my life here, except 1 month in Tempe Az. no thanks ! not for me. got back to central coast quick.
All my friends are here.
The moderate climate on the central coast.
The traffic is really getting to me tho. tired of the rude inconsiderate drivers, and pedestrians. so many people.

Why I Love California
Why Do I Love California? What comes to mind first is the diversity of people, cultures, languages, weather, food and beauty. California is beautiful, the hills, valleys, oceans, amusement parks, and the shopping. Perhaps when other people think of California they think of Rodeo Drive, limo’s, traffic jams, Hollywood, San Francisco etc. There is so much more to California, small seaside villages, deserts, forests, out of the way artist communities; you name it California has it.
There is this tempo to California with its laid back people, beautiful sunrises and sunsets. People seem more relaxed…cooler, hipper; there is this chill man, life happens mentality to being a Californian. There is so much to do! All you have to do is pick up a local paper there are tons of things to do from psychic fairs, scientific fairs, out door camping, hiking, fishing, surfing, day trips, you name it they have it going on somewhere in California.
Entertainment and the arts surround you everywhere you go. I love the people of California from the Great Terminator…"The Arnold", to the immigrant worker working the fields. Okay I must applaud the entertainment industry it just wouldn’t be California without them.
Great schools, colleges, universities and hospitals are in California not to forget the great doctors and surgeons that live and work in California. There is something for everyone. This truly is a great state, no matter what income bracket you fall into or what you do for a living, religious belief or life style, California has and will always have a place for everyone. Including all the dreamers of the world who come here with a dream.

You should get out more often. Sounds like you live in a larger city...there is a great big beautiful world out there, visit it. California has a lot of unpolluted, uncongested areas out there. Get out and get to know what truly is California.
