I want to move to SB or around SB (Goleta,Carpinteria etc) Im looking for a shared room kind of situation, because my credit is bad.Would all landlords do a credit check? I do have good references from my previous landlord in LA.

I wasn't looking to share a place with someone, but I was recently looking for a new apartment. ALL the places I looked at required a credit check (and they cost anywhere from $10-$25 per person). My credit isn't good at all and I was able to find a place. She ran the credit check and wasn't pleased but much of it is somewhat explainable (being on disability for a year ruined my credit). I made sure that if I really wanted a place I spent a lot of time talking to the landlord to let them know that I wasn't just my credit report and that I am normal and have a good job. She took a chance on us because she really liked us and my credit report isn't because I was spending money on frivalous things but had to choose between my car and my medical insurance. Med insurance won and I lost my car. I also have always paid my rent on time and in full which was easliy proven.

At least you aren't alone right now. Many people have bad credit these days and they have to live somewhere. Good luck!

Jill
