Default Pomona Area

Please help!! I'm looking at a job at Cal Poly in Pomona. I'm married, have 2 kids and am from the midwest. How much of a culture shock will it be if we move there? What are the schools like? Where should we look at living? I want safe, safe, safe neighborhoods and good schools.

Phillips Ranch area of Pomona. Nice area, 10 minutes from Cal Poly.

I wrote a few things about Pomona in the following:

My opinions and observations, of course. As usual, your results may vary.

The city of Pomona is really rundown with a big illegal population. As others have said, Claremont or Phillips Ranch (by the way, is there any brushfire danger in the latter?). Or if you don't mind a longer commute, Diamond Bar.
