Smile Truckee / Lk Tahoe overview / boating

I was hoping to get an overview of the Lake Tahoe area, although based on what I have read, Truckee may be the right fit.

QUICK BACKGROUND: I have spent the past 2 winter season (6 months) in Colorado (Crested Butte & Denver), and am ready to make a real move from Michigan. Colorado is a great and diverse state, (considering Durango or Edwards/Vail), but it is missing good boating water -- okay, so I want it all! Is boating a big thing on Tahoe, as in lake cruising, cocktailing & lounging in the sun during the weekend?

As a 38 y/o single professional male, I am looking to find that nice balance of enough social activity and where I can meet some quality people (especially the right gal). Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks for your time!

Lake Tahoe is for tourists so you might meet a girl, but she will have to go home after her vacation. And she might have brought someone along already.

If you are young and not ready to settle down it is hard to beat a girl who is leaving town shortly.

Generations of ski instructors have counted on the turnover.

Tahoe is a fine spot for boating as can be imagined, but I think I would take Lake Pend Oreille if I was young and starting out.

Encouraging promiscuity in the basin is not good for public health. Keep Tahoe Blue and Clarks, you and your friends might want to get tested. Latex becomes brittle in the chilly climates.

I would definatly say Truckee, its more of a joined town then say Tahoe City. Truckee has a lot of locals that boat on Donner Lake, not Tahoe. There is tourists that come to Truckee but Truckee has a really close community and you bump into people you know all the time.
