Proud Conservative is on a distinguished road
Your last few postings have been very contradictory. You seem to support government regulation and intervention into the free market and try to describing capitalism as a failing system , however, you don't support the bailouts?

Norway's unemployment rate of 3 percent is like comparing peanuts to elephants. Norway (4.6 million) has the population of half of Los Angeles. Sweden's steady GDP growth is great news for another country with a smaller population than Los Angeles. These are not solid arguments.

Capitalism and democracy are directly correlated. Because without democracy - freedom , liberty and free market prinicples cannot thrive.

Conservatism is the antidote to big government and socialism. There is no need for a 3 or 4 party system and those who entertain this only do so as an opportunity to divide the republican party. I suggest the democrats divide their party into the Socialist party and the Semi-socialist party and the GOP remain a whole. I do believe , however, Republicans who portray themselves as Conservatives but are actual Statists need to be voted out of office and can re-run as Democrats in the future.

Another suggestion Winston, since you are such a firm supporter of socialism , why don't you pack your snowboard and bags and head on over to Sweden or Norway since their economy's are so robust.

There is a reason millions of people continue to migrate to the United States both legally and illegally , that is because capitalism and freedom works.

Which is the reason big American corporations flock to the *democracy* of China. If capitalism = democracy, China must be one. Right?

Democracy = political system.
Capitalism = financial system.

Remember, Thomas Jefferson wanted to keep corporations and big business out of the new USA.

The reason my comments seem contradictory could be because we live with a contradictory system of economics. If you're poor, working class or a small-business owner (like me), you live in the free market. But if you're rich, a big financial institution or a gigantic corporation like GM -- no matter how poorly run or the mistakes you've made -- you enjoy the benefits of socialism. I support socialism with proper priorities. And, yes, such a system can live within a democratic framework. It does in Germany, Scandinavia and other places.

Hmm, so much for freedom of expression. I don't go along with the "USA love it or leave it" mindset. It is my patriotic duty to be critical of my government -- and I have a constitutional right to speak my mind. Maybe you should consider a nice *conservative* land to move, where no one criticizes the country of government. Plenty of those around. I prefer to stay in a place were free speech is still possible -- even if it goes against the sensibilities of some.

Happy 4th of July, BTW!

PS. I don't snowboard and hate the cold.
