Simi Valley Tea Party and Independence Day Freedom Rally, “Re-declaring Our Freedom” to be held in Simi Valley at Rancho Simi Park – Amphitheater
Simi Valley, CA, June 7, 2009 — On Saturday, July 4th, citizens from Simi Valley and surrounding communities, concerned about the excessive growth of government will rally to promote individual liberty, free market ideals and Constitutional principles. The rally will be held from 10 am to 1 pm and at Rancho Simi Park and will have live music, speakers from a Southern CA Internet Radio Talk Show and a local Veteran, followed by an open Mic for all who wish to voice their opinions. Following the rally there will be an open picnic for all who wish to attend.
The goal of the organizers is to provide a platform for citizens to come together to inspire participation in the growing movement for a return to constitutional principles.

That time directly conflicts with the open hours of the Conejo Valley archery range.

Does this archery range have targets made up of bunnies? Does it least have bunny shaped targets? It should.

Why is it called a tea party? Is there some taxation without representation going on here? Is the federal goverment forcing tea upon people and demanding taxes in return? I'm confused. Seems like some bait and switch to me...

Taxation without representation.
My congressman and senators do not represent me as I see it.

Guarenteed, your congressman and senators will never represent everyone's wants all of the time, but for most, they do suffice your needs. Quite frankly, the fact that your best interest aren't always served in a country of 350 million isn't in the least bit surprising.
The tea parties themselves are a simple bastardization of U.S. history -- clearly, tea party supporters weren't history majors and don't understand the actual concept of 'taxation without representation.'
I will never demonize people who attempt to take a political stand, however. It's the thought that counts. But it is hilarious and a bit ironic that in doing so, the tea-party demonstrators protested government waste by actually purchasing and destroying [their own] tea! LOL.
Listen, the only thing I'll demonize anyone for, save a small percentage of Ron Paul supporters, is this: Where were these demonstrations when a Republican administration spent over 800 billion dollars in phony wars? I didn't see a whole lot of non-liberal protests then. Not to mention, all of the money was spent for overseas destruction projects. Pass or fail, at least, at least, the wasted money was spent domestically attempting to revitalize its own economy.
It's hard to say the entire concept isn't an entirely cheapened by each of the previous realities, but for me, it's also damaged by the fact that it isn't some grass roots political display that could have been, although ironic, almost beautiful. Because its funded by extreme right-wing nutjobs like Michele Bachman, Republican congressional leaders, and FOX News. And if I have to see Glenn Beck's phony attire sitting atop CNN crying on camera talking about how beautiful it is and "where's his country going" I'm going to spit on my television. In the end, it's lingering taste is of nothing but partisanship.

Nor do I expect it to be.
But me and millions of others are tired of senators, reps and the president not obeying the constitution; that is, they are breaking the law of this land.
This isn't just me, there are millions with my mindset that feel this way.
The term "tea party" is figurative, do not take it literally.
The media and many people denigrate the tea parties; they are fools, what would they prefer? Violent protest?

My point still remains, and I think it's a good one: Where were the protests when the previous administration, in addition to wasting tax pay dollar, threw the constitution on a plate and defecated all over it? Cheney and Bush openly admit to not being consititutionalists and it was clear in policy that the President had ultimate power. Why weren't fiscal conservatives, aside from a small percentage of Ron Paul supporters, making any fuss about it then? That's where I say that these protests are entirely partisan and posturing.
We have got to get over this silly 2-party system.

The anger and frustration builds. Apparently it wasn't strong enough until now to make people protest.
I went to one of the tea parties. It was hardly partisan. THere were plenty of dems in the crowd.

Some people don't 'get it' that the TEA Party movement is symbolic of a group of Patriots who stood up for what they believed in. I will give Puddy4LyF this... it really isn't about 'taxation' with representation, it was about 'taxation' with poor representation. We were represented alright, no doubt about that, but it was horrifically out of touch!
Also this isn't just about taxes. Many of us have yet to experience direct icreased taxes, however have you noticed the prices of good going up, like 5.19 for a loaf of Orowheat bread? That's because those big businesses who are being taxed higher is passing it down to the consumer. So guess what in reality 'WE' the people in the lower to middle income bracket are the ones really burdened with the 'higher taxes'.
The movement is also about BIG goverenement getting BIGGER. And who cares what people didn't do then, what matters is that the 'continued' abuse and over spending finally woke many of us up. And now people are starting to take a stand! Better late than too late!
This is a people movement and IS NOT backed by a 'Republican CONSPIRACY'. I just learned something new, it's not just the people on the right who are vulnerable to conspiracy theories, so are the liberal DEMS - Gee we are all alike. Besides even if it was true, which it's not SO WHAT, they are Americans too and STILL have a right to their voice in this country. At least for now!
