Default Anyone know what Eureka is like?

Hi! I am living on the east coast now but have an incredible opportunity to study in the Quinault Rain Forest next spring but would like to winter in Eureka. What is it like there and what could I expect from the winter weather...snow? I would like an area where I would get quite a bit of snow!
Thank you!!!

Hi Perizada. I grew up in Eureka and left about 20 years ago, so I can't speak much to current living conditions in the town. From what I've read and hearing from my relatives it has gone from a relatively cheap place to live when I graduated high school to being virtually unaffordable now (I wouldn't be able to buy the house I grew up in, which was kind of a dump!)
But I can speak to the winter weather. It is very, very unlikely you will see snow, and that which does fall rarely sticks. The marine air on the coast really moderates the temperature. There will be rain and some fog. Also some really beautiful days. If you want snowy winter weather, you need to be inland from the coast and up in the mountains or go further north.
