Calabasas or San Luis Obispo? Which is the Best?
San Luis Obispo gets very high marks for great living! But, is Calabasas a dark horse? It sounds pretty wonderful also.
Both have the nice weather.
Lower cost of living compared to LA.
Less people per square mile.
Proximity to the ocean.
Natural beauty.
Lots of activities.
So which area is your favorite?

Calabasas has a higher cost of living compared to the majority of the City of Los Angeles.
My response would depend on the employment situation. I would think Calabasas would be closer to more jobs.

Calabasas isn't a dark horse... if you know L.A. at all, you know it's very nice and priced accordingly. Lots of celebrities and pro athletes living in the area. SLO might be a bit lower priced... but not by much. Both have starter home prices around $500k and up.

Callabasas is southern CA, and SLO is central CA. There is a difference.

San Luis Obispo is really nice-reminds me of the Bay Area(except for the coastal aspect-LOL)
Calabasas is a very wealthy suburb near Los Angeles.
I would probably prefer Calabasas cause its in a large metro and that's my preference.
But by themselves, Id definitely prefer SLO.

Natural beauty between Calabasas and SLO can't be compared. Calabasas looks like the desert. I guess if you had to live that close to L.A. for whatever reason. But if you're choosing between the two? C'mon. I mean SLO for sure.

Apples and oranges comparison (although people compare apples and oranges all the time). Calabasas is just west of the LA City Limits, while San Luis Obispo is on the Central Coast between LA and SF, Monterey and Santa Barbara..you get the picture.
I've lived in the San Fernando Valley most of my life, so I'm way more familiar with Calabasas than SLO. That being said, SLO has a certain ambience to it that I can't exactly describe. However, the job situation there is less than perfect. I'd live in Calabasas since its closer to the things I'm familiar with and a lot closer to the jobs I want.

Calabasas is a privileged enclave on the outskirts of horrendously overpopulated basin and adjoins hundreds of square miles of urban blight. SLO is also a privileged enclave, but in a region surrounded by some of the best scenery in the state and an area where population density is more tolerable.
