Default Bars in Palmdale?

I recently went to Palmdale for a trip to the high desert. I looked for a place to go have a drink in the evening, but all I could find were a few restaurants that also served alcohol. There weren't very many of those, and they were mostly chain places (borrring). I had an old Yellow Pages in my hotel room, but nearly every single bar listed there was closed or seemed to have vanished off the map.

So what's up with Palmdale? Why are there no bars, and why do the ones that exist get closed so fast? Is it a semi-dry town or something? Lancaster seemed to have a few more places to go out, but not many, and most of those were icky gross bikini places.

The whole place felt sort of repressed and therefore twisted, if you want to know the truth.
