Default living between UCLA & Orange County

I am starting a new job @ UCLA, and my wife has found a job in Orange County. We are trying to find a safe neighborhood between the 2 that would minimize the commute for both of us. No kids, so school districts etc is not an issue - and we would most likely be renting. So far I was considering Torrance, Lomita, Las Alamitos, Seal Beach & Long Beach. Estimates of commute times either way would be helpful.
Thanks!

the 405 is a terrible, terrible freeway. if you live in the middle, you'll both have miserable commutes. if you live closer to one location than the other, one of you will have a decent commute and the other an extremely miserable commute. it sounds like a lose/lose situation to me.

Ouch. Foothill is pretty hard to get to.

Your wife will probably have to drive. There is no significant public transportation to that area. A Mid point would probably be Huntington Beach or Los Alamitos. Either way, you both will be spending alot of time in your car.

Oh know Foothill Ranch and UCLA, Well Foothill Ranch is a hard place to get to nice and beautiful but out there in El Torro (LAKE FOREST), UCLA is way easier to get to so I would stay in Orange County and look but in the North, such as Brea, Fullerton, la Mirada, Seal Beach Huntington Beach[[/b][/b]
