Get what? You are not very good at explaining yourself.

You are just not good at reading comprehension apparently, I can keep trying to explain myself over and over, like I ALREADY have, and you still won't get it. So why should I even bother to try to explain it to you AGAIN and AGAIN? I've tried and now I am giving up b/c you're hopeless here. Reread the thread slower if you need to b/c I am tired of saying the same crap over and over to you b/c you just don't get what I am saying. So just give up already and accept the fact that you're clueless here and have trouble with reading comprehension.

What actually happened is that people just stopped spending as much and hence the overall amount of tax dollars actually declined.

Compared to a year ago here is what the tax changes/recession did to OVERALL revenue collected:
sales tax: -50%
Income tax - 40% (layoffs)
corporate tax: -10%

$26.3 billion is probably as much a fiction as Ahnold's pec's. I wouldn't be at all surprise if the debt, in real dollars, was closer to $40 or $50 billion. Don't you just love how cute Mark Leno looks standing in the legislative hall?
I think unhappy is right.

Then to demonstrate how some Californians are beyond brain dead some idiot is tossing up the idea of a progressive sales tax.... where the poor pay but 1% while the "rich" pay 20% or more.

Yeah, that will work really well. The rich know they can't buy stuff in other states like Nevada.

I've never lived anywhere where I had to pay sales tax on my groceries, and I'm not about to start now.

And those bigger-than-Texas property taxes they have over there! That's why my friend from Austin is headed for Colorado.

We have no state income tax here in Nevada, either, but my property taxes are miniscule in comparison to what I'd pay in Texas.

And let's not forget, a couple sessions ago, we had a Republican governor who gave his blessing to one of the biggest tax hikes in Nevada history.

Our current Republican Governor recently vetoed everything that came out of the current legislive session, with the Dem's overriding the vetoes. But bless his heart, even though his efforts were largely futile.
