malamute, excellent points. I disagree with others that have stated that because of the Democrats this state's financial position is their fault. Republicans and Democrats operate pretty much the same in this state. You can see obvious differences in other states between the two parties but not here. This state as many have already touched on has a large government which makes a lot of promises and that spends more than it has. CA needs to be restructered and new ideas around growth and stability need to be on the agenda instead of more services and more taxes. The next 2-5 years is going to be very interesting in this state. Wonder how long the state will operate with IOU'S?

Democrats are NOT the party of pretend. Republicans are. California is just the classic case of Americans who want a free lunch.

When Republicans are in charge Dems blame them like there is no tommorow. Whenever Democrats are in charge they go "we all made this mess together." Thats BS. All the States in the most trouble are Democrat controlled. Coinsidence? I think not. I hate both parties but Republicans at least understand the basic tenants of freedom.

Do they have any control in CA? The Dems have enough power to pass anything through that they want for the most part. Arnold is not a true conservative and vetoes hardly anything.

Well, I raked in big money as a healthcare traveler in California for about six years. That golden goose has honked its last honk, though. Now I make big money as a healthcare traveler in Texas. May its Lone Star continue to gleam.
