yep, I would guess, "go with the flow" is the phrase..I don't care if it is state, county or city, the cops are not going to pull everyone over at the same time.

I haven't had a ticket in CA in years. I will admit to getting popped twice in a two week period of time in Texas for 5 MILES OVER the speed limit!!! Honestly, I don't believe the speed was the problem - I had CA plates and they hate Californians.
FTR, I not only have a radar detector, but I also go with the flow of traffic. That's why I haven't had a ticket here in CA for probably a good 15 years or so.

I've noticed a definite up-tick in tickets to those I work with... not a scientific study... just an observation.
I was pulled over by the CHP a couple of weeks ago and was asked if I knew why and I responded no.
The officer said she noticed I didn't have a cover over the trailer I was towing and she stopped me to check my load. My trailer was empty. She verified my license and registration and then sent me on my way...
So... yes, I do thing they are being much more aggressive... at least my trailer was empty and I was driving in the slow lane at 55 mph and my lights worked, etc...

Since when do you have to have a cover over a trailer?

As of 1-09 the horrid ca legislature enacted a new law that has a added fee to your ticket to pay for the state courthouses that they claim are falling apart. A $100.00 ticket will easily be over $300.00. A normally $20.00 cell phone ticket will cost you $132.00. A friend of mine had a one day operating permit from the dmv & the CHP pulled him over on the freeway & gave him a fix it ticket even though he had all the legal paperwork. The cop didnt have to do that once he saw the paperwork. I guess he had to prove his power like most cops do especially the LAPD.

Well there you go.... if you don't want a ticket, obey the speed limit.

They used to do this in Florida. The police would get on some nice straight road like I-95. They'd put about 20 police cars in the median strip on the other side of an overpass (where you couldn't see them until you came flying over the overpass). They also used to hide in the shrubery along the side of the road. Then they'd pull over about 20 cars all at the same time.
People get that "pack" mentality. They see someone doing 90 so they think they can all go 90.
I highly don't recommend going with the flow. Speed limits are there for a reason. Despite what some people think, they aren't just a "general guideline."

I'm suspicious too. My best guess it was a pretense.
We do have signs in town that read, "Uncovered Loads Subject to Citation"
Somewhere in the CA vehicle code it mentions only water and feathers can be discharged from a vehicle traveling a highway...
The Chicken/turkey farmers must have had a good lobbyist

Got my radar and love it. That thing has saved me quite a few times. I don't drive very fast, but when you are on highway 5, and I have to go up and down from SF to Eugene OR, it comes in handy, especially in Oregon.

yes, they are there for a reason, but going with the flow will more likely than not keep you from getting a ticket. I am recommending speeding, nor am I suggesting people drive in the inside lane at or below the speed limit, I am just mentioning you are safer if you go with the flow, than speed all by yourself.
