Default Best area for single RN stationed at Travis AFB?

Hello everyone, I recently found out that my orders have been changed to Travis AFB. I am an east coast girl and know nothing about California. I would really appreciate some advice on which area would be best for a 29 year old single woman like myself. I have no children, so I don't care about the school system. I just want to be in an area that has a good presence of singles like myself, not a bunch of married couples with children. I don't want to have to drive anymore than 30 minutes to get to work. I would like an area that has some diversity and I can pay upwards of $1400 a month for rent. Thanks in advance for any suggestions, I appreciate any advice that you offer.

Travis AFB is in Fairfield. The suggestion was a joke. There are no legitimate cities near Fairfield as you are half way between San Francisco and Sacramento.

If you don't actually want to live in Fairfield, Davis would be a great choice..it's a nice college town with a pretty diverse and educated population..far more to do. Benicia is a cute town on the waterfront.. nice downtown area.. closer to San Francisco/Berkeley. Also, a little farther out would be Walnut Creek (this might be too far or crazy during commute times though, but would definitely suit your needs best).

So whats wrong with Fairfield and Vacaville..Both area's have nice places to live..The commute is horrible to Concord or Sacramento..
We lived area the area for a long time...You don't want Napa the commute is awful too.
I think you'll enjoy the area once you get settled and learn the lay of the land.
Happy travels.

Thats a good question mamh. What is wrong with fairfield, are there no nice areas at all? I really don't want to commute more than 30 minutes so I'm hoping I can find someplace within that commute time.
