I have been to San Fran, LA, San Diego before, when I was a teen and absolutely loved it! SF always stuck in my mind more vividally - Alcatraz, Fishermans Wharf, Pacific Heights etc, just wanting to go back and capture the beauty of as much of the state as I can, in my own perspective and cram as much into my trip as possible whilst still trying to stay on budget!
The places you guys have mentioned sound incredible! I was thinking of Yosimite, now its a MUST! And I was'nt even sure where Lake Tahoe was! And I love everything Spanish/Mexican as well so the Spanish Mission sounds great, although what are "The Missions"? And also how long would the drive be down the coast, stopping between towns etc

Thanks in advance,

J
Sounds like you've got some great advice. A reminder: Don't refer to it as 'Cali'. Not cool.
Bear in mind that California is HUGE. You can spend twenty hours in the car driving from one end to the other without stopping, without traffic, and you must have heard about CA traffic...That drive to Yosemite and Tahoe will be a long, boring one that may even involve an overnight somewhere, depending on your starting point.
Make sure you ALWAYS have bottled water in the car. It's still pretty hot in September and you don't want to get caught somewhere without it.
Be a good boy and wear sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses.
If you get to Malibu, visit Point Dume on the beach. You won't regret it. Also, the Tile House is a nice point of interest but you won't meet too many single women there.
If you go swimming be careful. The water has strong currents and is flippin' cold.
If you want to have an expensive meal in an exclusive, gorgeous place, consider Geoffrey's on the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) in Malibu. It's pronounced 'joff-rees'. Celebs love the place. We went twice and saw Dick Clark once and Sean Lennon another time.
Have a great time and let us know how you made out!

Great stuff guys and thanks coyoteskye, I've always wanted to see the Sierras, and the way you described it coming in from the East sounds amazing. ExNooYawk, cheers for the advice on "CA" I'm not fussed on long drives, I know its going to be a long one but I've never done it so looking forward to it, taking in the scenery, just me and my thoughts! Geoffrey's sounds really nice! the cold water does'nt! Although beleive me when I say that it sounds warm compared to the English channel! which I've taken a dive into many a times!

Again thanks for all the advice, I can really start to plan the trip now!
