The people they say all of California requires smog checks are wrong. In some areas its only required when you buy a vehicle but are not required to do the biannual smog check. This page has the info you need. Smog Information

I hate to see a old truck on the roads up here with smoke pouring out of the tailpipe. Any vehicle purchased up here has to pass smog on purchase but you never need to test again till you sell here.
Any vehicle belching exhaust can be reported through the States hot-line... it hasn't been legal for decades to drive a smoker...

They get away with it in these counties because any complaint means their next test would be in a "test only" station. These automobiles can continue to be registered for decades with no next test.

The first time I had ever heard of it was when a group of us kids were riding in the back of an old pickup... back when that was legal.

A police officer gave the grandfather of my friend a fix-it ticket because of the blue smoke coming out the exhaust... the grandfather didn't want to spend any money on the old truck... so he drove it to a wrecker and sold it for $25.

DMV says some zip codes in Riverside County require smog certificates but they don't say which ones. Does anyone know?

Mendocino county does not have Smog test. How do I register over there at Lakeport? If I take my current registration form, they will know that my car failed the test. They also have it in their computer system. If I tell them I moved and give them an a Mendocino address, will they let me register and ignore the failed smog test?
