I like to see them, very awesome.....and humind don't disturb me.
That question is probably better on the florida forum but thunder and lightning storms are a daily thing in the summer months. (when el nino isn't screwing things up).

As already mentioned the summer air in Florida is very humid, and the nights stay warm too. As far as thunderstorms, I found that in central florida, especially the east coast, it seems they have a thunderstorm almost every afternoon. It was really kind of funny when I worked there a few years ago, the folks who were from the area would get off the beach around 2:00 even though it was warm and sunny. About a half hour later, in came the rain and lightning.

Just like clockwork.

in the summer, June-December, even, you can get a thunder storm every day. They are fantastic! But the humidity sucks. All summer, I try not to go outside except at night. It's like living in an oven. Getting in your car is the worst. And the air conditioner stinks from mold growing in it.

Yep. It's called monsoon season...our summer months...Florida has rain drops the size of your windshield! It comes down hard and fast. But it's much needed. It's the source of our gorgeous green vegetation.

I would have to say San Diego has the best weather. I never visited there in the winter, but I know it gets cold. Winter in Florida is the best! It can get a little nippy, but the temps are far greater than out west.

I was raised in Florida and now live in L.A. I like California (slightly) better in the summer than Florida, but as another poster mentioned you can't beat Florida winters. Mid 70's during the day 50's at night, you can go to the beach or do water sports all year around! I've been here in california almost 4 years and only have been in the ocean once...the water is just too cold.

Default Cali or Florida

Hi , First time on this forum, just had to reply to Cali or Florida climate. Lived in S.Cal over 20 years, 2 brothers and a sis still there. Moved to S. Florida 1 1/2 years ago, husband's a roofer, this is a roofer's paradise! Cali is a nice dry heat ,it is humid here , but it is sunny almost every day. Summer is rainy season, but if it does rain, it's in the afternoon and gone quickly. The plus here is the rents, we are in Pompano Beach off A1A. 1/2 block east to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, the intracoastal is 1/2 block west. We're renting a 1/1 duplex, for $875.00 a month. You could never do that in S.Cal beach areas. Now I have to tell you this is SNOWBIRD country from Nov.-April. Lots of people, but if you love the beach, you'll love S. Florida...

I live like 15 minutes from OJ simpson, and I can tell you the house next to his is nice,so you might reconsider!!

As far as the weather in Florida compared to California, since I live in Florida and have visited Cali several times I would say from mid October until April the weather in Florida is the best, however the "OTHER" months, the smartest thing to do is just get out of Florida,or find a way to go into some sort of summer hibernation until the nice months come back again cause let me tell you they're not fun.

I've never been to California in winter, when I hear that's when they get some rain, but the other times I've been I mean the weather has been perfect, sun every day,no rain, dry so even if it gets a bit hot you don't sweat like Florida.I remember one time I was at Disney MGM studios in Orlando,it was 97 degrees with the heat index over 110 degrees,I had to head back to the hotel around 11 am since I had soaked my shirt from sweat,it was like if I just jumped into a pool, and then when I came back it started raining and thundering like it does every summer afternoon. And lightning don't get me started on that I've been in two buildings, one my house that got hit by lightning and made the house shake, took out some roof tiles, electricity. The I-4 corridor from Daytona to Orlando and then Tampa is known as lightning alley. Not fun!!!

If I was rich I would live in Florida the good months and have another house in Cali to go to for the "OTHER" months!!

The lightning "shows" in Florida are the most dramatic natural light shows you will ever see in your life! Absolutely amazing!
