California has 36,400,000+ people. If 1/4 of those are sick, that's at least 9,100,000 people.

I'm thinking of stocking up on soups and OTC medicine, just in case. I'm so far down the list of people to be vaccinated that flu season will be over before I could participate.

Is anyone else worried or concerned about this? I'm picturing ERs in big cities rapidly being overwhelmed.

I wasn't that concerned, but I think I'm starting to be. I saw this morning that some companies are actually beginning to worry about their profits because of it. I've never heard of businesses mention a flu virus as a reason why their profits may suffer.

Well I did read something on another thread that apparently it doesn't hit seniors as much as others, so I am not as worried. You know, it is always hard to separate sensationalism for reality. I don't know how I feel. Sometimes it scares the heck out of me, other times I think it is hype. I could guess it is a combination this time.

As another senior and one who's moving to a relatively isolated area in another state in less than two weeks, I'm not particularly concerned. But if it gets me it gets me. I'll certainly take reasonable precautions.

By the way, all you almost all packed and ready to go? I know you have waited for this time to come. Welcome to our part of the world, a wonderful part I will add.
