Turlock is about 100 miles south of Sacramento and about 100 miles east of San Francisco. Its much closer to Modesto which is a fair sized city. Most of the people in the Sacramento forum live closer to Sacramento and don't know that much about Turlock other than it being a farm town and a fairly large Portuguese population. So you may want to check back for the next couple of days to see if anyone who knows more about Turlock has posted here. You also might want to cross post this question to the general California forum and see if that gets a better response.

turlock is small sized city situated near big cities. you might have to drive a little far, but it's definitely accessible. a big part of turlock is in the university (csu stanislaus).. so you will meet many college students (traditional and non-traditional). as far leisure activities, there are things to do but you have to be creative about it.
you also might be able to find good deals on homes too.
i think the biggest plus is: fairly safe city/town and accessibility to other known cities.
good luck.

Why did you start two separate topics with the same question?

This one was originally in the Sacramento sub-forum (the other was started in California after x15's comment above). The Sac forum post was moved here by mods instead of being combined or deleted with the other.

Turlock has changed a lot in the last 10 years...
At one time residents had to shop in Modesto for Brand Name Stores.
The city council attempted with success to capture shopping dollars by approving the Monte Vista Crossings Center along with Hotels in close proximity to campus...
Turlock is very livable, but it is not the same as living in a CA coastal city.
Home Prices are very reasonable by CA standards and Yosemite and Sierra Skiing is only a drive away.
Winters can be grey and cold and summers hot... like anywhere else in the valley.
