I'm smell a country that should take fuel responsibility more seriously. As long as we show, as a collective, that we like our gas guzzlers, nothing will change in terms of gas prices.

The weather and tides don't have a dam* thing to do with the price of gas...
Other than the oil companies are using that as an excuse to raise the price of oil form our own offshore rigs..
There is not now or never has been a shortage of oil or the gas refined from it...
Opec came into being in the 1970's and decided they would control the price of oil on the world market...And the oil compies jumped on it and found a new way to make bigger profits.
Even in the 70's and the gas lines there still was no shortage of oil...only 10 percent was cut off from Iran and that was just a drop in the bucket of world oil..but yet gas doubled in price in just a few months and as soon as it doubled the shortages seemed to disappear over night....even with most of Irans oil still off the world market.
And Europe pays 5 and 6 dollars a gallon because of taxes, not the price of oil...
If you want to blame anyone other than the oil companies, turn your blame to the oil traders and opec. But I will keep most of the blame directed at the greedy oil companies...

What's the price of a barrel of oil? $65? Why? Because people will pay it. Why would anyone (person or company) sell something for less than others will pay?

I don't work for any oil company. The only investment I have is a small amount in an S&P 500 index fund. It probably has some oil stock but I've never checked.
Why don't you ride a bicycle to work? Or get a 41 MPG Corolla. Or move closer to work? Or take the bus? There's lots of ways to spend less on fuel. I guess its just easier to complain about the price of gas and blame the company that supplies it.

I drive less.
I have groceries delivered twice a month, I do a lot of online shopping, use a Wii
instead of driving to a gym and rent movies on DTV.
Cost me $50 to fill up my 05 Grand Prix last week.
I'm not buying gasoline again for at least 2 weeks.
