Default Santa Barbara behind the times/Platinum LEED Building denied!!!!

This is insane...The City of Santa Barbara denied a Platinum LEED building because a few people didn't want change in their neighborhood.

Judging from the article, it appears that the project was denied on the basis of neighborhood compatibility. Its environmentally sensitive/efficient design is not a guarantee of approval nor should it be.

The project of is definitely incompatable with the neighborhood. Brinkerhoff Ave is a historic St in SB. The people of any citiy would not like this type of project in a historic district of their town.

The builder wants to build it on Bradbarry not a historic street and not Brickerhoff a street near by.

Funny that in the Santa Barbara area the people said no to a new hospital project because it was too big for the area. The former COO for the Santa Barbara Hospital is now the CEO of Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura and presented a plan for a new hospital in Ventura. The city of Ventura decided that the new building needed to be a focus for the mid town area and wanted a larger building. The new facility will be LEED certified and will be an amazing building to look at.
