lol! I like the way you think... My Grandma fell on her face trying to pick up a penny (true story). Sometimes pennies are not worth it.

Felt sorry for them but what can you do? I know CA is bad, but it's really bad here, really bad. We also have winter coming up and our homeless rate is soaring and we don't have warm air and beaches for them to sleep on...I'm afraid many will die this winter here

Detroit is over 25% and MI overall is gunning for 16%. I can understand why they came to IN. It's all relative.

I don't know why people have the impression that the bay area has warm weather? It can get REALLY cold here in the winter. Winter bills are REALLY high too. I understand people coming here for the jobs as more in going on here than there but maybe there are coming here for services they can get too?

Highs in the 50s (and often a tad warmer at the beach, due to offshore flow and compression heating between storms) and lows in the mid 30s to mid 40s are not considered cold in most parts of the country. Yes I realize it's a bit colder than this inland (but not by much), I'm referring to the Inner Bay Area.

I don't doubt it gets cold there, just saying that you will for sure not feel negative 10 degrees for two weeks straight. We pretty much consider anything above 20 degrees tolerable, even go out walking, but when it gets in the teens and negatives that's when they find homeless people dead sometimes.

Coming from Southern CA, the bay area gets too cold for me and the cold seems like it lasts forever. But I'm sure winters here are nothing to people from back East. The winter bills are the biggest shocker.

It should not frustrate as you can have a growing economy with a growing unemployment rate so long as your population continues to grow. The end to the recession only means that the economy is no longer declining in size.

PS. The unemployment rate is not based on unemployment benefits.

user_id, to my knowledge I thought the unemployment numbers were derived from jobless claims filed and wage reports from payroll processing companies. If I am wrong how are the numbers being formulated?

It is very frustrating because our economy is not stable, one of the factors is the war(s) will continue to cost us. The rise in the economy us regular people will not be feeling it and it doesn't affect us. The way I see it and I can be wrong, but the economy will keep growing for the 1-2% of our population and the rest of us better be looking for some of the outsourced jobs in India.
