Default Want to move to California

I want to move to California but everyone says not to because of the financial situation. But I really want to move to California but I also want to live in a state that is stable. So what do you think? Is California really in that bad of shape? Do you think I should move to California?

First you visit several times?
Then you decide what part of the state you want to live in?
Then you save at least $5000.00 (min)
Then you get a job.
and then you can move without too many problems.

Ca isn't the place for anyone, especially a young person without a job to even think about right now.

Nita

Oh Nita i have to disagree.
It's a young person that can do it.
Santa Cruz (for example) is very expensive but it's paradise for 20 somethings.
And they are the ones who still have enough openness and flexibility (and tolerance) to live in house share situations which makes living in even the most expensive of places very possible.
Young folks don't have family yet and they aren't as liable to get trapped in difficult situations as they are carrying a much "lighter load".
If a situation didn't work out when i was 25, no problem ... move on.
That gets more challenging with age.
So, i don't think being young should be a show stopper ... as long as they have at least a little bit of common sense and don't have silly expectations based on Hollywood images of CA.

well why wasn't i informed about this change?!
perhaps charging a "small" processing fee would change the boards mind?

ok, lets back this up, 1, you are talking about your moving there several years ago not right now and 2-we are talking about the lack of jobs period. I am guessing from the way the OP is wording things, she is not terrible educated (I am not trying to insult anyone) and doesn't have a lot of skills. So, no, right now wouldn't be a good time for her to be moving to a state that has no jobs and an overflow of people on welfare. There was a time when this would have been a totally different ball game.

I don't think we can make such assumptions about the o.p..
Let's wait and see if he/she returns and "fills in the blanks".
