You are talking about human beings...and human rights. Whether it's about race or sexual orientation, don't you agree that it's important for ALL human beings to have the same rights and privileges? Or do you think that it's more important for one group and less important for another?

Wow! Maybe Ellen DeGeneres could come to the school, and talk to young women, about being lesbian. Neil Patrick Harris could discuss "coming" out, and they could show a movie each day for the students to discuss, relevent films, like "'Brokeback Mountian", "Rent", and who could forget, "Rocky Horror Picture Show". "Milk", of course, and Sean Penn make a cameo appearance.

Perhaps, they could have a pep rally, and every student could come dressed either Lesbian/Gay/or Transgendered, to show school spirit during "gay" day. This could be a meaningful experience for the students, to learn about diversity and discrimination.

That's really funny.

Ellen DeGeneres talks to all of America every day on her talk show. What would be the difference? Maybe she could talk to young women about being a comedian? Or about being a talk show host? Or about having her own sitcom? She's obviously more well-rounded than simply being a lesbian...as are all gays and lesbians.

I'm wondering what would be your advice on how to dress as gay or lesbian? How do gays and lesbians dress differently from the rest of the world?

True, back to the facts of the day, although Harvey Milk means little to me, he did get assasinated, but then again so did Moscone, but he did get a "center" named for him.

I just find the twists and turns of the intolerant trying like hell not to sound intolerant, so darned funny.

If the gays took over the whole US of A I would find it a hoot, if the intolerants all blew up their own heads.

I absolutely love this stuff!! The scumbags in Sacramento have screwed me in so many ways through outrageous taxes and insane laws that I have begun to root for the downfall of California. And it's well on the way. Imagine a young family thinking of moving their kids and business to CA and then seeing the nonsense that goes on here. They'd have to be nuts to consider coming to CA. Keep it up Sacamento politicans. I'm enjoying the show.

Now that's just an overreaction, and a subtle one at that. Did anyone say we should "get rid" of gays? No. By the same token (and you know this) it would be ridiculous to "get rid" of anyone who can't reproduce; it's clearly not their fault.

The issue here is whether gay activity should be taught in our schools and exposed to our kids. Heterosexual activity to the end of explaining reproduction is. Consider that there may be a lot of parents-Christian, Mormon, whatnot-that might not want that and won't have a choice if a "gay" curricula is introduced. I think personal sexual choices and lifestyles should be taught by the parents and left out of school.

If we want to learn about Milk's role as a supervisor, fine, but leave out his personal lifestyle. That's kind of like focusing on the infidelity of the Kennedy's rather than their political contributions.

I was just reacting to dumb comment someone else made that since gays don't produce children it's against nature. The purpose of Harvey Milk day it to recognize Harvey Milk for his fight in equality and how it lead to his death. The purpose is not to send gay experts into classrooms and have a Q&A.

I'm not sure why. In sex ed nobody covers the basest possible parts of being heterosexual, nor do they go into overwhelming detail.

For example:

Little Johnny: "Mrs. Jones, what is masturbation?"
Realistic Answer: "It's what your father does in front of the computer to girls who claim to be younger than you, Little Johnny. Of course, Mom doesn't know. Or...she pretends not to."
What Mrs. Jones Actually Says: "Obtaining pleasure by stimulating one's own genitals."

Little Johnny: "Mrs. Jones, what happens after the man ejaculates?"
Realistic Answer: "He pretends he has to get up early the next morning so he can get out of there quick, says he'll call, but never does."
What Mrs. Jones Actually Says: "After ejaculation the penis returns to its softer state."

Little Johnny: "Mrs. Jones, is it weird or wrong to think about doing it with donkeys?"
Realistic Answer: "Yes! Yuck."
What Mrs. Jones Actually Says: "That isn't something this class covers, Little Johnny. I would suggest you bring it up with your parents at home."

Little Johnny: "How big is a penis?"
Realistic Answer: "Never quite big enough."
What Mrs. Jones Actually Says: "Penises vary in size, just as noses, eyes, ears and hearts do."

Little Johnny: "Am I too young to have sex? Will I go to hell if I do it?"
Realistic Answer: "I hope not, or by your age I'd have been to hell at least half a dozen times."
What Mrs. Jones Actually Says: "YES. You are much too young. I suggest you speak with the guidance counselor."

And they're still contributing. No doubt Maria was a heavy influence in getting Ahnold to sign several bills akin to ones he'd vetoed in the past.
