Default Southern California fires

What's up with all the fires in the Southland? It's been happening a lot lately, as well as most of the decade. In 2003, there was a fire in San Diego. Then in 2007, there was one in Malibu, then countless times near Los Angeles and Orange County, now one in Diamond Bar.

This was a localized series of fires that could have proven devastating had the Santa Ana winds of last week still been blowing. They've got the upper hand on this one.

L.A. also dodged a bullet with the Station Fire happening when there wasn't a Santa Ana condition. 2009 has so far proven to be a very calm year as far as the Northeast winds go.

Life in So Cal. Fires, floods and mudslides.
