Angry Move to add $18 to Car License for Parks...

This scheme is another example of what is drastically wrong in California...

The proposal to increase vehicle license fees by $18 per vehicle per year to fund parks needs to be stopped... if you want to fund parks... create a park tax and leave cars out of it...

Why should motorists have to pay yet another non-automotive fee for the "privilege" of owning a vehicle in this State?

What's next... a tax on Hot Dogs to fund Sports Arenas?

I like parks, sometimes the ends justifies the means, of course, if it were up to me, I would have used all that money we burned up in Iraq and all the money we spend on social welfare programs to improve parks and trails across the nation.

So lets see, I already pay $550 now to register my car and now it's going to be $568 if this happens? F*** them.

My understanding is it would let California Plated vehicles avoid Vehicle Entrance Fees at CA State Parks...

Apparently, there is an exemption for commercial vehicles... to that pick-up with a commercial plate pulling a camper may very well have to pay vehicle entrance fee(s)

Since most rental cars are plated with CA plates... it would seem rental cars could also avoid vehicle entrance fees.

I like parks just like everyone else... I supported and voted for the East Bay Regional Park 20 Year Parcel Tax Extension to acquire and maintain parkland in the SF East Bay...

This vehicle/park funding proposal doesn't even require a 2/3 vote to pass...

Looks just like another way to get money from motorists and get around circumvent existing law.

It would be nice if California could get back more of the money it sends to the Federal Government each year... maybe the new Administration will choose to fund State Parks?

Improving Parks and Trails across the nation would certainly help by making it easier for the masses to experience nature's beauty...

Some of the earliest road projects funded by the gasoline tax were park related... it was all in an effort to get city people out to the country side...

It is sad, but the money that gets sent in by the blue states, goes largely to the redstates.

A huge problem I have right now, the Federal Highway Administration has for years sent some money toward trail Maintenance, Certain Senators, (McCain is one), are working to drop that trail funding.

My reg fees went from 56 to 74 bucks in the past year. I welcome this increase like I do a prolapsed hemorrhoid.

roflmao!!! Not at your situation, no no, just at your wording. Sounds exactly like me every time I gotta pay something stupid. Actually that last part of your sentence is what I say pretty regularly. That's a bunch of BS. When I get moved out there I'm getting a motorcycle or a scooter.
In Indiana we have a "wheel tax" and it's an extra $25. a year to "fix the roads" but the 2ft deep pot holes tell another story of where the money is really going. Bastards!
