The best place of all is in the tiny little town of Guadalupe, which is just a few miles out of Santa Maria. It is an agricultural community, and the "Far West Tavern" is the best in all the land. The town exists because of oil, cattle, and agriculture. There is no reason to visit that place unless you're really hungry..! It's off the beaten path, but well worth the trip.

Living here on the Central Coast, I go to them all. Personally I like Jocko's the best. There's McClintocks too. Great food with a view of the Pacific Ocean, that place isn't bad either.

It is a common misconception that Easterners (that includes Texas) know how to barbecue meat. The center of the Universe for barbecued meat is Santa Maria, CA
